Conrad Murray Charged With Manslaughter

King of Pop Michael Jackson dies in Los Angeles

Michael Jackon’s doctor, Conrad Murray has just been charged with involuntary manslaughter, TMZ reports.

The District Attorney alleges that Dr. Murray

“did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson … in the commission of an unlawful act, not a felony; and in the commission of a lawful act which might have produced death, in an unlawful manner, and without due caution and circumspection.”

Dr. Murray, 56, administered Michael Jackson with a powerful anaesthetic known as propofol, to help with the star’s chronic insomnia, on June 25th 09.

Jackson later suffered a heart attack and died. Toxicology results state that the singer died from “lethal levels of propofol.”

Dr. Murray could face up to 4 years in prison – the maximum sentence this charge carries.

Murray’s defense lawyer, Ed Chernoff said,

We’ll make bail, we’ll plead not guilty and we’ll fight like hell.”
